From a challenge to a masterpiece.
Raphael
"This cosplay was definitely a challenge. Don’t get me wrong I love this Cosplay with my entire heart and I was able to execute it fairly simple and easily because I had already had the wings, tail and horns from my other Cosplay: FireLily Bakugo. Rafael is a very fun character to Cosplay as mainly because he is such an underrated character and there's not many cosplays of him. The only issue I had while making his cosplay, was making his Shirt and pants within basically one night as well as having the difficulties of wearing face paint to a convention. I wasn’t able to have a good day where I could costest before the convention so the day of the Convention was my first time I had ever gotten into that cosplay. Let me tell you the reaction from everyone was amazing. I was constantly recognized for being Raphael, which I genuinely thought I was not going to be recognized, and what was better was that Cloud was also recognized for cosplaying his own Tav alongside me, so even if it was a character that he designed himself from the game people were still understanding that he was attached to my Rafael. This Cosplay was a lot of fun. However, I will complain about the red face paint because I bought red face paint before I realized I could use red foundation, and after the convention I finally caved in and bought red foundation. The foundation made me realize that it could’ve made my life so much easier but I don’t know why I was being so stubborn and not wanting to use it for the longest time, the normal red body paint was awful! It ended up smearing everywhere and no matter how much setting spray or powder I had used on my skin, the face paint was constantly coming off on my clothing, props, as well as everything I touched. Not to mention the scar wax I had used for the first time. The scar wax. I did not understand that you have to make sure that your skin is not oily so that it can stay on, but I did not know at that time and in a rush to get ready within two hours I had realized that I did not make sure that my skin wasn't oily. So the entirety of the con of walking, photo taking and participating in, as well as the entire photo shoot with SquirtleSquad, my eyebrow and scar wax on my face were constantly trying to fall off and YEET itself, it was funny, of course, but it was getting annoying trying to constantly touch my face and make sure that my eyebrow or nose wouldn’t fly off. So talking and laughing we’re not really an option, even though I needed to do those to have an enjoyable con. The photos from SquirtleSquad turned out absolutely amazing, and I am very glad that I was able to choose him to do a photo shoot! I would probably cosplay as Rafael again in the future with the new red foundation, rather than the face paint, (I now know that would be easier for my skin and it wouldn’t shed everywhere). I will probably make red gloves as well so that I wouldn’t have to paint my hands, but due to doing this cosplay last minute I had basically made it extremely hard for me to walk around con, because I didn’t think things through. But in all, I would definitely do it again in a heart beat!"
A small requested cosplay turned into LarpLikeRae's most requested tattoo in cosplay!
Astarion
"I never realized until I made my Astarion cosplay that people are crazy for this man, I knew that my partner cloud had a crush on Astarion but I didn’t know how bad it could get with others until I cosplayed as him. I first had cosplayed as him in 2024 for a tattoo and Cosplay video where I tattooed my own partner Cloud as an in character Astarion tattoo session. That video blew up to say nonetheless and the comments I thought were going to be very nice and respectful but half of the comments were very thirsty and really weird people saying gross things. They were making really inappropriate and kind of gross comments about tattoos and what they would let Astarion do to them with the tattoos. Such as "I would let him drink the blood out of my tattoo" or "I would let him lick my tattoo". There was a lot worse comments than that, but for your sanity and for mine, because I don’t want to read that again, I will let your imagination rome (or you can check my TikTok video). Once I have cosplayed any character, either it is requested again or people forget or don't know anything about it. Astarion however has been my most requested 'Tattoo in Cosplay' I think I’ve ever gone. I’ve been requested several times to Cosplay as Astarion over and over again by other cosplayers as well as clients. Granted, I don’t have a very canon outfit for him since it is just a medieval shirt and steampunk pants. combined with a wig that I curled with a pencil. But nonetheless, I do appreciate this Cosplay more than I would like to admit. It’s just the comments and the fans with this Cosplay are a little too much and they are kind of creepy/scary but other than that I think he’s a fun character to tattoo as!
