“There are very very few times when I get the chance to look at the photos taken from a photographer and don’t see myself, I see that character. And Zay-Ree did just that! The instant they showed me the photos they took in the freezing cold, I didn’t see myself cosplaying as Jecki, it was just Jecki. I wasn’t there 😂 Zay-Ree brought to life such an amazing concept and helped portray Jecki to keep her character alive, so please go support them!!
This cosplay may make another appearance at a convention just because of my love for her!”
“With choosing cosplays, it can be a difficult decision to find what exact cosplay you want to dedicate time, money, energy and love into. Sometimes, it’s by forming a love and respect for the character. Sometimes, it’s a pressured feeling from demands of following. And sometimes… like this cosplay, it came from the passion and drive of a challenge. Jecki immediately became a favorite of mine when watching the Acolyte… and instantly seeing her pass away was so heart wrenching. I knew I wanted to cosplay as her and bring her back to life. This cosplay was taken to Kumoricon 2024, and during the beginning of the day, no one knew who I was. Then wishing a flip of a switch, in the afternoon countless of people came up to me with their love of the same character. With this lesson, I learned that it doesn’t matter if you cosplay a character that is well known or not… you should cosplay a character that you love, that you have a passion and drive for. It shouldn’t be about being recognized, it should be doing what makes you happy and comfortable!“
