Mustard

Mustard

Some of the most unknown and non-recognizable characters are ones that are the most fun and challenging to cosplay and create physically! It's hard to know why some cosplayers find an interest to create a character they are passionate about. Mustard is a character that LarpLikeRae took an interest in and was inspired to bring him to life. Mustard is a C-rank villain whose quirk is Mustard gas, able to generate vast typhoon of gas around his body. LarpLikeRae took it upon themselves to create the cosplay, helmet and photos entirely by themselves to test their cosplay skills and challenge themself.

One of the most rewarding parts of cosplaying as a unknown or rare character is the passion of the cosplayer to the character!

Mustard

"There is a character in My Hero Academia during the training camp arc that I grew attached to fairly easily. Granted there were several characters that were introduced at that time and many stayed in the show as popular and well-known characters. I wasn't too fond of them since I had my eyes set on one specific boy, Mustard. Now this character was someone who I genuinely was intrigued by and wanted more than anything to represent how insanely cool his design, personality and passions were. He was only seen in 1 episode and broke my heart knowing that he would probably never return. So that being said, even if he was barely shown, I wanted to bring him to life!"

"I started the helmet by heating up EVA Foam and warping it around my head. I got plastic tubes from my parents house, an empty gallon bottle and several trinkets to create one big helmet. The eyes were made out of puck lights and were set to the red setting. As for the jacket, I sewn on extra gold buttons to match his school uniform and thrifted the rest! The photoshoot was planned to do in the forest when the sun came up at dawn to catch the ever so slight sun. I wanted it dark enough to look like nighttime, but light enough that the photos turned out well. At the end of the day, it didn't quite matter since the photos were lighter than anticipated but the photos were definitely worth it!"
