Tattoo in cosplay RULES:
Rules of engagement
Absolutely: Handshakes, High-Fives, Ask to take photos/videos, make TikTok's and autographs.
Do Not: Hugs, flirting, kisses, kabedon, ship posts & hand holding. (If you are requesting an in-character session with a character that is flirtatious, Rae will communicate boundaries and willing to accommodate to your comfortability.)
ABSOLUTELY DO NOT: Sexualize, take inappropriate pictures, touch inappropriately or without consent, make sexual or inappropriate remarks or content, harass, stalk or bully.
If the client has requested an in character, out of character or silent session, it still means the client will still need to follow these rules of engagement or they will be asked to leave without a refund. Cosplay is not consent. Please ask before you act.
Traveling/Out of State:
Large tattoo sessions: For larger tattoo pieces, we recommend doing 1 long session or 2 sessions (in two days). You WILL most likely require to stay in Sierra Vista at a Hotel/Airbnb to get the design finished in limited time. When booking, please email Rae to communicate what days work best and what to do to prepare for the trip.
Small tattoo sessions: While traveling for a small tattoo, please make sure to eat and take care of yourself before arriving to the shop for your appointment. Sitting in a tattoo chair after sitting in a car for a long time will not be the best for your health. Please arrive to Sierra Vista a couple of hours early to make sure that you are fully prepared to get tattooed. Before leaving town after your appointment, make sure that you are feeling 100%!! No driving while feeling unwell, we don't want you to pass out. So eat before you leave!
Before your appointment:
There are several things to do to prepare for your tattoo appointment, starting out with the DAY BEFORE!!
Before your tattoo:
-Hydrate!!! Drink plenty of water to ensure your skin is well-hydrated and ready for the tattooing process. This helps with skin health, blood flow, comfort, reduced bleeding, faster healing and reduced risk of complications.
-Eat a nutritious meal: Fuel your body with a balanced meal to ensure you have the energy needed for the appointment. Food = Energy. If you don't have energy, your body won't have the help it needs to fight the pain and heal your tattoo.
-Avoid blood-thinning medications: If possible, avoid taking medications like aspirin, ibuprofen, or fish oil supplements that can thin your blood. This will make it hard for the tattooer to keep your stencil on. The more you bleed, the more chance your stencil will wipe away easier.
-Don't drink excessive alcohol: Limit your alcohol intake to ensure you're well-rested and hydrated for the appointment. Maybe one drink will be okay and wont effect you too bad, but alcohol thins your blood and will react the same way to blood-thinning medications. NO DRUGS!!!!!! Vaping is okay before and during the tattoo, DO NOT blow on your tattoo for any reasons.
-Get a good night's sleep: Aim for 7-8 hours of sleep to ensure you're well-rested and ready for the appointment. The lack of sleep during a tattoo appointment will NOT make you sleep during the appointment, it will put more strain on your body. Getting a good nights sleep will help with Physical Recovery, Pain Management, Mental Clarity/Focus, Immune System Function, Reduced Stress/Anxiety, and Better Tattoo Results (you sit better than flopping around like a fish out of water!).
-Shower and exfoliate: Shower and gently exfoliate the area to be tattooed to ensure it's clean and free of any lotions or oils. DO NOT use new products that you do not know how they will react to your skin. This is not a good time to test out new products you could potentially be allergic to. Make sure to wash the area with warm water and unscented soap to get rid of any lotions, DIRT or oils. You do NOT have to bandage this up, make sure that the area is clean.
-DO NOT Remove hair: We will shave the area you will get tattooed when we are about to start the process. If you shave, you could: 1) potentially cut yourself where we plan to tattoo you. 2) You could give yourself razor burn. 3) Not shave enough/too little of an area. Only remove hair if tattoo placement is located on your head (just shave with a clipper, we will shave the rest!)
-Charge your phone: Make sure your phone is fully charged and ready to take photos or stay entertained during the appointment. Please bring a charger cord with you, you can plug it in at the tattooer's station. Bring Earbuds/Headphones if you plan to be on your phone, laptop, ipad, etc.
-Plan your outfit: Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allows easy access to the area being tattooed. Below is a diagram of what you should wear depending on what area you are getting tattooed.
-Review the details: Double-check the appointment details, including the time, date, location, and design, to ensure you're prepared and know what to expect. You will receive an appointment confirmation email 48 hours before your tattoo appointment. In this email you have the chance to confirm, cancel or reschedule your appointment before the date.
-Prepare your aftercare products: Make sure you have any necessary aftercare products, such as ointments or creams, ready and available. Sometimes tattoo appointments run later and stores close where you cannot get your aftercare supplies. So prepare beforehand!
-Relax and get excited: Take some time to relax, meditate, or engage in a calming activity to help manage any nerves or anxiety. Get excited for your new tattoo! LarpLikeRae does allow photos and videos during the tattoo process, just be respectful! If you want professional photos of your tattoo, please communicate to Rae about the process!
Healing/Aftercare:
Proper healing is crucial for achieving optimal results and ensuring the longevity of your tattoo!! During the healing process, your tattoo is vulnerable to infection, scarring, and ink loss, which can compromise the overall appearance and quality of your artwork. By following careful healing instructions, you can minimize the risk of complications and promote a smooth, healthy recovery. This allows your tattoo to heal evenly, retain its vibrant colors, and remain a beautiful work of art for years to come.
DO NOT ask your friends how to heal a tattoo, they are not tattoo professionals. How they heal their tattoo may be different to how you should heal yours!
Please make sure you know which aftercare to follow! Rae Villin will cover the instructions after the appointment. For any questions, click here for more information and most asked questions.... or email: LarpLikeRaeWebsite@gmail.com
Tipping:
Rae Villin offers several ways to accept tips from clients. Sadly, with Zen Tattoos payment system, their tattooers are not able to accept tips on the automated payment system. However, Rae accepts tips through card on a separate machine, cash or on their website HERE.
We hope you have enjoyed all of these updates to ensure a great new year of tattooing and bringing to life such a fun tattoo experience!
